Labrador Retriever

The Labrador Retriever is the most popular breed dog breed in the world. Labs are loving and loyal, building strong bonds with their masters. The Labrador retriever got its name from the work of its earliest ancestors, retrieving fishing nets, and the breed’s later use as hunting dogs. Due to this heritage, Labradors are extremely athletic, they love to swim, play catch, and of course, retrieve!

History

Originally from the island of Newfoundland, the earliest ancestor of the Labrador was the St. John’s Water Dog.
